Narcisism?

About me!

I am a mature student, who (having been given a very privileged opportunity to take time out from a busy career spanning over 30 years in Information Technology, Computer & Systems Design & Manufacturing and more latterly, IT consulting sales), wishes to explore the broad relationship between contemporary art and modern culture.  How each of these affect the other in a continual, almost symbiotic relationship has determined our past and will almost certainly determine our future.

Working from the milestone theories that Emanuel Kant provided in the 1760s, our living social culture and ability to critique has developed and matured recently to such an intangible extent, that it would be hard to communicate to someone from just 100 years before today, let alone 250 years ago when Kant was developing his theories.  This startling development in our evolution is a mere blink of an eye, when looked in the context of the development of man, who started producing cave art circa 30,000 years ago.

I find the whole notion of art as a form of communication the most engaging, inspiring and fascinating subject to immerse myself within.   - Throughout history, artists have the unique privilege to be able to virtually step outside of the contemporary culture of any age, and observe, record, abstract and edit the history of humankind through the use of whatever, and any, media that man's ingenuity has created.  We are now in an age when anyone can participate, but to become a professional practitioner takes a little more time and study with like minded peers and qualified experts.
